Guys, I'm having trouble letting her go...

I often leave stories open-ended, both because I personally like that in other stories, whether it's movies, books or video games, so that you can let your own imagination decide how certain plot points ultimately end - and also because it's always nice as a storyteller to leave yourself an open door for potential sequels in case inspiration strikes in the future.

However, many of our stories that have such endings were never really meant to have direct sequels. The Mansion Game, Agent Fatale and Creating Perfection are just a few examples. Mindhacker is another one, even though a significant number of people seem to be expecting a sequel to that one.

Originally, My Own Piece of Nothingness would follow this formula. I never really had any plans for a direct sequel. However, once that story was finished I had this lingering sense of not actually feeling done with it. I had grown to like Abbie so much as a character that it started to feel wrong not to give her some kind of resolution. A proper one. Maybe even a happy one?

In other words, expect some more from her in the future, even if it's just one movie. I can't quite let her go.

  1. Great news and a good idea! I was actually hoping for a happy ending for her, even in episode 3. Like, maybe she and her best friend actually ended up being happy. But that of course didn't happen as we know. Whatever you decide, good or bad, I will like it. Because you always deliver quality and I look forward to each and every episode/movie. Thanks for the work you do, both of you :)
